Tip: When applying different filters to images always use
the undo and redo button to see what effect the filter had on
the image and adjust the setting if too harsh or weak. Photographs
can be enhanced greatly using the right filters at the correct
settings.

HOW TO USE THE UNSHARP
FILTER
The
Unsharp Filter seems rather misnamed, in that unsharpening is a method of paradoxically
acheiving just the opposite - a sharpening of certain edges in the original photograph.
The
advantage of using unsharp, rather than the typical sharpening filters,
is that unsharp can be very carefully controlled. It provides a different
sort of sharpening. But the effect is very similar, and need not introduce
highlights, or jaggies, or other unwanted artifacts produced by sharpening
filters.
Here's an
easy way to use the Unsharp Filter. You can simply select it from the
Modify Menu and apply the settings to suit your photograph.
Below
is an example of using the Unsharp Filter.

Notice
how the Blue Sky behind the clouds, was brought out by the unsharp effect and
the old implement shed has lost it's "fuzziness". Always take
the time to play around with different settings to see the effects applied to
enhance your photograph. Use
the undo-redo feature to gauge the effects.
