Handy Tip : If you have multiple sites, don't link between them on each page as Google regards this as link spamming and will penalize each site for its use. Only link between pages when those pages have relevant content to each other.

Tips on search engine submission

There is no secret formula to getting a high search engine ranking and if all the experts who guarantee a top ten placing actually could, then there should only be ten experts. But it is possible to get a good ranking by just following some basic steps. Using software like Webposition Gold can make it even easier.

When listing your site with search engines, take the time to do the job manually and read each search engines submission instructions. (This is very important if you want a listing with Yahoo.)

Make sure that your page is finished and ready for submitting. Do not have "under construction" signs, check html with a validator, check for spelling errors, bad links and make your page load as fast as possible

Do not try to trick search engines by putting keyphrases in comments, putting them in text that is the same color as your background, and so on. You could get yourself banned for all time.

Try and help the search engines by making it as easy as possible to get a good idea of what your page is about. That way, as search engines get better and better at rating the contents of sites, your rankings will get better over time, with no effort from you.

Once you have your pages up and running, it's a very good idea to try and get other people to link to them. Many search engines are now using link popularity (how many other pages link to your page) as a ranking criteria and you'll get traffic from the websites that link to you. You can check your site's popularity by using a free Link Popularity Checker.

It's recently been revealed that Inktomi applies a ranking penalty to any url submitted through their free "Add URL" system, but removes it if their spider also finds the page by following a link from another site (they do this in an attempt to find and penalize "doorway" pages). And you'll get traffic from the websites that link to you.

Google seems to give a high ranking if you have a link from a site that is very popular. In fact some experts seem to think that this is now the only way to get listed by Google. Building your link popularity should be one of your main goals.

Above all, be patient and persistent. Submit your site monthly and continue to tweak your keywords until you get the ranking that you desire. Once you have a good ranking don't touch things unless you slip down the ranking ladder.

Good luck.
