Mario Miner is a free Mario game to play online. The objective of the game is to grab as many silver and gold coins as you can within a set time frame, to progress to the next level. You'll also see other items to collect like bombs, grabbing speed icons and ones that will increase the time limit. Be careful though, other items like rocks will slow you down.

Game design plan from a developers point of view

Note: This is not the design plan the developer of 'Mario Miner' used when making this online Flash game. It's merely a reverse-engineer of a game design plan based on my experiences as a player.

One sentence description:
A Mario themed game, set down a mine shaft where you use a trigger to collect silver and gold coins within a set time frame.

Scenario / World:


The game scenario is set in a dark mine shaft.

Mode:


 Single Player

Objectives:
Collect enough silver and gold coins to advance through each level.

Characters:
The main playing character is Mario. Looks exactly the same as the original Nintendo Mario character.

Visual aesthetics:


The graphics are colorful at the start, then turn darker when the game begins down the mine.

adventure, mario

Possible Target Audience:
Suitable for everyone.

Itemization of game elements:


The introductory screen offers 4 choices:

  1. Start
  2. Help
  3. More Games
  4. High Score

The top toolbar displays the playing level, countdown timer, score, points obtained, a pause and exit.

The lower right corner displays the 'Grab' button. This is how you help Mario collect all the coins.

When the game is over, you can submit the score to an Internet leaders board, or play again. Although for some reason the score always shows as 0 on my MAC.
