Hidden Expedition puzzle game - Everest

Hidden Expedition Everest is an online hidden object game set in numerous sceneries all over the world. The aim of Hidden Expedition Everest puzzle is to find all the hidden objects and items so you can progress to the next level, until ultimately you reach the summit of Everest.

What makes this game unique when compared to other hidden object games, is that a few of the background elements are animated. For example, the waterfall in the first level, or the clouds in the second level actually move. Unlike other similar games where the background is static. To help keep the players interest up, Hidden Expedition Everest also contains lots of mini games between some of the levels. A plus for beginners is that the items can often be seen in the same place if you need to repeat a level. This is handy, even though you are given a new list of items to find, as usually a couple of them will be similar to your last game. This makes Hidden Expedition Everest a good experience for those who are new to this genre of game.

Hidden Expedition Everest puzzle game is high recommended for beginners to hidden object games.

Hidden Expedition puzzle Everest

Developers of Hidden Expedition Everest:

One sentence description:

The scenario for this hidden object game is in numerous places throughout the world. Starting in Latin America, you then advance your way around the world until you reach the Himalayan mountains of Everest.

Mode:

Single Player

Objectives:

Find hidden objects within a set time limit to advance through each level.

Characters:

No characters as such, just hidden objects and items.

Audio / visual aesthetics:

Visually the graphics are fantastic, almost as though they are traced from real photographs.

The audio / music sounds are strong theatre style.

Genre:

puzzle / hidden object

Possible Target Audience:

Suitable for everyone who enjoys find and seek style puzzle games.

Itemization of game elements:

Game is played with mouse clicks.

The introduction page has 3 options:

  1. Play
  2. Download (to PC)
  3. Buy Now (full version)

Most hidden object games won't offer too many options on the introductory page as they are pretty much self explanatory.

Press Play and as soon as the game loads you see a welcome screen that tells you the objectives of the level. ie. find as many items on the list shown along the bottom of the game. It also tells the player to take note of the 'hint' button in case they get stuck. This small note about the hint button can make a huge difference to new players, who may otherwise have missed it.

The bottom of the screen displays:

  • Time remaining, which initially starts at 5 minutes. You'll notice when researching hidden object games that most of the time limits start with 5 minutes.
  • The hint button that shows how many hints you have left.
  • The list of objects and items to find.

When the time is up you get to play again with a new set of items to find. However, I do find it annoying that you need to go back to the very first introductory page when this happens. Maybe sending the player back to that specific level would have been a better option from a gamers point of view?

One frustration I found as a player was the lack of a pause button. Personally from a game developers perspective, a pause button is important for obvious reasons.

Itemization of game rules:

Take note of the list of items that need to be found and click on them in the main picture as you find them.

Find all the objects / items within a 5 minute time limit to progress to the next level.

If you get stuck, click on the hint button and the area that the item can be found will be highlighted.

Also look for little surprises such as diamonds and jewels in each level. Collect them all and you win an extra hint.
