Ghost Trap is a game that will require all your problem solving skills to make it through all 10 levels to the end. Ghost Trap is an online game where you need to trap all the halloween characters within a playing area, with as little moves as possible to score highly.

It's important to note that Ghosts can't be trapped within an area of similar color to themselves. After each move, your cursor will change colors, so keep watch for that rule. At the end of the game, players have the option to submit scores to an Internet leader board, where it will be listed against other gamers. Ghost Trap is recommended for adults and kids aged 10 and up.

Shown below is an example of how to make a design plan if you wanted to create a scary game similar to 'Ghost Trap'.

The game scenario is set in a spooky forest full of ghosts, pumpkin halloween heads and monsters.

 Single player with an option to submit scores against other gamers.

Objectives:

Trap as many ghosts as possible by filling out a playing area.



Characters:

The characters are the ghosts and halloween objects that come in multiple colors and shapes.



Audio / visual aesthetics:


Graphics are cartoon / comic in style, bold, colorful, thickly drawn.

The background music isn't scary as you'd expect by the theme of this game. It's rather quirky and upbeat. Not annoying in the least, rather pleasing.

Itemization of game elements:


The first game screen gives the player 6 options to click on. All of which are self explanatory:

  1. New Game
  2. Continue
  3. How to play
  4. Wall of fame
  5. Play more games
  6. This game on your web site

After clicking on 'New Game' you are shown a second menu that asks you to choose a level from which to start. Some levels are locked until those before them have been completed.

Once in the game, the bottom GUI (graphical user interface) displays the score, a count down timer, how many lives you have left and an option to turn sound on or off.

After each level you are shown a screen that displays:

  • your game score
  • time bonus points
  • life bonus points
  • color bonus points
  • overall total score

Trap as many ghosts as possible by filling out the play area.

Trap the ghost inside colored areas to earn extra points.

No ghost can be trapped inside an area of the same color to itself.

Fill 75% or more of the area to level up.
