Fish Tycoon online sim game
Fish Tycoon is a virtual fish store where the object of the simulation game is to breed fish and care for them, just like you would in a real life pet store situation. As your profits grow from selling the fish, you can buy more tanks and upgrade equipment. The great thing about this online simulation game, is that when you are finished and off the computer, your fish continue to grow. When you return to the game, it gives you a choice to continue the game or start a new one.
When you first start Fish Tycoon, it's important to breed your fish, buy food so they continue to thrive, set prices and sell them. Like many online sim games, don't forget to research new technologies. This will advance your progress in the game as you discover new foods that make your fish grow even faster and bigger.

Note: This is not the design plan from the developers of Fish Tycoon. It's merely a reverse-engineer of a game design plan based on my experiences as a player.

The characters in this online sim game are the numerous fish. The developers have created the characters and their surroundings as close to the real thing as possible in that the graphics are not cartoonish, but more photographic.

Audio / visual aesthetics:

As mentioned in the section above, visually the graphics are photographic in style and very nicely done. They leave the gamer thinking they are looking into a real fish tank. The fish store has the visual look of any pet shop. The customers are pixelated graphics in style.
Audio / sound can be turned off or on at any time by clicking on the options menu. Personally I found the music a little annoying and didn't really add to the game experience at all. It seems to come on and off at will and not loop as such. When rolling your mouse over the options on the introductory page, the short sounds are of a piano, which also doesn't make a lot of sense considering the world is set in a fish tank. It didn't take long for me as a player to want to turn the audio option off.

The introduction page displays numerous choices: Play, Options, Trophy, Help. The background graphic is a picture of a tank with bubbles rising. As a player, you understand what the idea behind the sim game is from the very start.
The options button allows you to turn the sound off or on. It also allows you to set the speed of the game to fast, normal, slow or paused.
The trophy button is simply a virtual trophy room where fish you have bread are framed and displayed on a wall.
The help option runs you through the main objectives of the game, showing you a few small hints and tips along the way.
Once your playing the game, you'll notice navigation elements along the top and bottom of the tank. Along the top are supplies like food and medicine you can drag and drop into the tank, or you can view your sales tank as well.
Along the bottom are links readily available back to the main menu, supply purchases, species and shop front.
If you mouse click and hold down on a fish, it tells you the species and age in the lower navigation area. It also tells you wether your fish are healthy and fed well enough.
How much cash you currently hold is always viewable at the center bottom of the screen.

Drag and drop food from the supply area seen at the top of the screen, into the tank, to keep them well fed so they can grow larger.
Click the supplies link on the bottom of the screen to purchase things like fungal treatment, vitamins, growth hormone, fish eggs, heater sytems to keep the temperature at a good level, snales to clean the tank, ornaments for fun and much more. As with the food, you simply need to drag and drop them into the tank when required.
Keep track of your current cash level as this will determine how many supplies you can purchase.
Drag 2 fish into the empty holding area at the bottom (near the 'health bar') to breed and populate your tank.
Drag any fish you want to sell into the sale tank at the top right. The more fish you have in the sales tank, the more customers you'll see in the store.
