Christmas Smash game

In this free online game called 'Christmas Smash', the player has to whack anything that pops up out of the chimneys that doesn't have to do with the Christmas holiday season. For example, if you see either Easter bunny, a criminal or a joker pop up out of the chimney, bonk him with a hammer by mouse clicking on the character. Miss 10 and the game ends.

High scores for Internet players seem to stay around the 400 mark. For everyone you hit that isn't related to Christmas, you gain 1 score. If you hit Santa or Rudolf, your score returns to 0 ie zero. Tuff but challenging.

Hints and tips on how to play 'Christmas Smash' game

Mouse click anyone who hasn't got to do with Christmas ie the easter bunny, criminal etc. Also whack any presents that appear for extra bonus points.

Game design plan

Shown below is an example of how to make a design plan if you wanted to create a Christmas game similar to 'Christmas Smash'.

Please Note: This game design plan is merely a reverse-engineer of my experiences as a player.

Title: Christmas Smash

Developers: Sticky Studios

One sentence description: A game where you need to help Santa path a safe passage through the chimneys by whacking everyone who's unrelated to Christmas.

Scenario / World: The game scenario is set on housing rooftops with numerous characters popping up out of the chimneys.

Mode: Single Player

Objectives: Whack as many characters as you can who is unrelated to Christmas.

Characters: The main viewable characters in the game include the Easter bunny, Santa, a joker, a criminal and Rudolf.

Audio / visual aesthetics:

• Graphics are boldly drawn, containing shadow to display detail.
• The background music is Christmas in theme as you'd expect. Once playing the game, the music is faster to get your adrenaline pumping. There is no option to turn the music or sound off. Personally as a player, I like to have this option.

Possible Target Audience: Everyone

Itemization of game elements:

• The first introductory screen contains a short run down of the games storyline.
• There are also two buttons, one to start the game and the other contains instructions on how to play.
• Furthermore, the player will see a list of Internet player top scores displayed on the right of the introductory page. Personally I like this idea, rather than be shown the top scores at the end of the game.
• Another good idea from a game developers viewpoint, is how they display a link on the lower right side for 'Tell A Friend'. I've never seen this in a game before now. Perhaps it could also have been shown at the end of the game as well.
• Clicking the purple colored 'Instructions' button, switches the top score leader board to a short run down on instructions.
• Once in the game, the top GUI (graphical user interface) displays the 'Score', 'Bonus' points, 'Missed' hits, as well as the current Level you are playing.
• When the game ends, the player is shown on the lower right corner, the 'Total Score', an Internet ranking and a text box to submit their name.

Itemization of game rules:

• DON'T hit Santa or Rudolf. If you do, the overall total score goes back to 0 ie zero.
• DO hit the joker, bugs bunny and the criminal. Each hit adds 1 to the overall score. 10 misses and the game ends.
• Catch bonus presents for extra points.
