Mr and Mrs Chimps is a romantic valentine theme kids game, where the objective is to help Mr Chimp swing from one vine to the next, collecting yellow bananas from Mrs Chimps. The player must collect 10 bananas within the time frame to proceed to the next level. Each level offers a new scenery to help keep things interesting. This online Flash game is simple enough for the youngest of players. The main challenge is in avoiding the bad guys, with each level adding a new character.

Game design plan from a developers point of view

Shown below is an example of how to make a design plan.

Note: This is not the design plan the developer of 'Mr and Mrs Chimps' used when making this Flash game. It's merely a reverse-engineer of a game design plan based on my experiences as a player.

Title: Mr and Mrs Chimps

Developers: Gaming Hungama

One sentence description: A kids game where you help a boy chimp swing from one vine to the next, collecting banana's from a girl chimp.

Scenario / World: The game scenario is set in the forest with swinging vines.

Mode: Single Player

Objectives: Swing from one vine to the next collecting banana's from the girl chimp.

Characters: There are two characters. One is a girl chimp, a non playing character, who's only purpose is to pass you the banana's. Where as the main playing character is the boy chimp.

Audio / visual aesthetics:

• Vector style, shaded graphics.
• Audio is cute, sounds like it's been done on an electric keyboard or PC software.

Genre(s):

• kids
• children
• girls
• boys

Possible Target Audience: Suitable for kids aged between 5 and 12.

Itemization of game elements:

• Game is played via keyboard.
• Introductory page shows the two monkeys sitting head to head, on a huge banana with love hearts spraying upward between them.
• On the left is a link / clickable button that says 'Help'. If the player clicks this button, it shows them how to play the game. They can then go back to the introductory page.
• On the right is a link / clickable button that says 'Start'. This begins the game.
• The sound can be turned on or off at will by clicking the music icon on the top right.
• Bottom/ left displays how many lives the player has left. It begins with 3 lives.
• Bottom / Middle displays a time line.
• Bottom / right displays the score.
• The scenery changes with each level passed.
• Each level adds a new challenge / bad guy. For example, the first level has hungry alligators in the water. The second level has alligators + jumping fish.
• Lose 3 lives in total and the game restarts to the very beginning.

• Press the space bar to jump from vine to vine.
• Collect the banana from Mrs. Chimp.
• Press the left and right direction keys to change the direction.
