Bike Challenge is a motor cross / dirt bike game that visually looks fantastic and plays well. This online flash game contains many added extra's to keep the player busy. For example, as the player you can choose a specific bike and color at the start of the game, then upgrade parts as you earn points and progress. Game objectives include riding the bike, conquering obstacles such as rocks and gaps in the ground, all within a set time limit.

Game design plan from a developers point of view

Shown below is an example of how to make a dirt bike game design plan if you wanted to create a game similar to Bike Challenge.

Note: This is not the design plan the developer of Bike Challenge used when making this dirt bike game. It's merely a reverse-engineer of a game design plan based on my experiences as a player.

Title: Bike Challenge

One sentence description: A dirtbike action challenge game.

Scenario / World: The game scenario is set on a dry dirt track. Perfect for dirt bike riding!

Mode:Single Player, can save high scores against other Internet players.

Objectives: Ride the bike, conquering obstacles along the way. Climb rocks and jump over gaps. Use the points / earnings to improve and upgrade your bike.

Characters: The main character is the dirt bike rider who always stays seated on the dirt bike.

Audio / visual aesthetics:

• Simple yet effective in the design of the background elements like clouds, mountains etc. Excellent visual design seen in the motor bike and its rider.
• Audio can be heard through the whole game, starting with the looping music in the Introductory scenes. The sound can be turned on or off at any time, even while playing (huge fan of this from a players viewpoint).

2nd Page allows the player to select a bike. Each dirt bike has its own unique advantages and disadvantages. For example, acceleration, top speed, tyre traction and aerodynamics. The player can also choose a color for the bike paint.

Once in the game, total score and time used is displayed along the top GUI.

The bottom GUI displays icons for - Back to main menu, pause, music on / off, what level your currently playing, and one that takes you to the garage to upgrade parts.

Itemization of game rules:

• Progress through each level within a set time limit.
• 2 chances at stacking it, then the game starts again.
• Purchase upgrades at the garage as you can afford it.
