Making 3D Neon Buttons and Rollover Buttons

Neon buttons are easy to make and can be used for mouseover effects very quickly and easily.

Step 1

Open a new image image in Paint Shop Pro.
File/Open
Settings 100 x 30 pixels
Background color: White
16 million colors

Step 2

Set the Color Pallette's "Foreground Color" to Black and the "Background Color" to White.

Step 3
Click on the "Flood Fill" tool then click on the
"Toggle Tool Options Window" and apply the following settings:

Flood Fill Settings:
Blend Mode = Normal
Paper Texture and Match Mode = None

Step 4

Apply a Linear Gradient Fill
Gradient = Metallic
Angle = 180
Repeats = 0

Opacity = 100

Step 5

Press [CTRL+A] to select all.

Click on Effects/Blur/Average - Select filter aperture of 7

Step 6

Click on Effects/3D Effects/Buttonize

Settings
Height=20
Width=6
Opacity=75
Transparent Edge

Your 3D Neon Buttons are now finished!

Step 7

To make them into rollover buttons, simply rotate the finished button 180 degrees and save as button #2

. Image>Rotate>180

This places the drop shadow at the top and when both images are used in a rollover script, it gives a depressed look to the buttons.

Add some text to each button and you are in business. *smiles*
