GLASS MOSAIC FRAMES

Making great looking mosaic glass frames for your favorite photographs and images is quick and easy.

fig 1STEP 1

Open the image you want framed.

STEP 2

Make a copy of your image and paste the image as a New Layer.

Edit || Copy

Edit || Paste As New Layer

STEP 3

Click on the Toggle Layer Palette .

Select and make the background layer the active layer.

Click on
Effects || Texture Effects || Mosaic Glass
and apply the settings.

Number of Columns =25
Number of Rows =25
Symmetric = Checked
Glass Curvature = 50
Edge Curvature = 1
Groat Width = 1
Grout Opacity = 1

 

 

STEP 5

Return to the Layer Palette (See step 3) and select Layer1 to make it the active layer.

Resize the image to suit your taste. This image was resized to 80% of the original. You might want a larger, or smaller, frame size.

Image || Resize || Percentage of Original = Checked

Make sure the "Resize All Layers" Is Unchecked.

The glass frame is now taking shape.

Still on Layer 1, go to Selections || Select All

Next click on the Magic Wand Tool and click in the center of the image. This will select and put the marching ants around the "Picture" area.

 

STEP 8

Apply a Cutout Filter to the "picture" area.

Effects || 3D Effect || Cutout
Horizontal = 2
Vertical = 2
Opacity = 100
Blur = 5
Shadow = Black

STEP 9

Reapply the Cutout Filter, this time have Horizontal at -2 (minus 2) and Vertical at -2.

You are finished. Looks great!
