Handy
Tip: Making use of a metalic color like gold, is a good idea if you own a gaming website. It gives visitors the feeling that they are in an actual game when visiting your website, making it familiar from the start.

7 Apply
a Cutout Filter Effects>3D Effects>Cutout Vertical &
Horizontal Offset = 4 Opacity = 90 Blur = 5 Fill Interior Color =
NOT checked
Deselect
image CTRL+D after applying the cutout.

Apply a New Layer
Layers>New Raster Layer

Click on Selection Tool
Selection Type = Rounded Rectangle
Feather = 0
Anti-alias = checked
Draw a smaller rounded rectangle image as shown.

Select the Flood Fill Tool 
Set the Foreground Color to Black and the Background Color to White
and apply a Gradient Fill to the new selection. (As in Step 3) Foreground-Background
Gradient Angle = 0 Repeats = 0 Important. This should leave the
whiteness at the bottom instead of the top, which is the reverse of the previous
gradient fills. Step
10 Colorize
the selection. Colors>Colorize
(Hue=30 Saturation=200)
Adjust the color down Colors>Adjust>Gamma Correction
RGB = 0.65 Step 11 With
the selection still active, press CTRL
plus C to copy the image to your clipboard and then press CTRL
plus E to duplicate the selection and add to the navigation bar.
You
are finished and can merge the layers and save your navigation bar. Add your
text to each button as required. Play around with different color gradients and
different size bars.
