Inserting
a background. Inserting an image, Inserting text.
Frontpage
is an easy program to make web pages with. All you need are the basics and you
will be making professional pages in no time at all. *smiles* Follow these steps
in your Frontpage program and make a page with me.
Let's
begin. Open your Frontpage program.
Inserting the background
The
start of any webpage begins with the background color or image. This page background
is white. Your background color should be the default, grey. Let's make
yours the same as mine. 
1.
On the uppermost tool bar click on format.  2. Next, scroll
down and click on "background". A popup box will appear.
 3.
To the left of the first dropdown menu is background. Click on the dropdown menu
and choose white from the color list. 4. Click ok and you now have a
white background.
Inserting
a background image.
1.
On the uppermost tool bar click on "Format. 2. Next, scroll down and
click on "image". A popup box will appear. 3. This time check "background
image." 4. Click "Browse" and from the popup window check "From
File" and click "Browse" in this box. 5. Find the folder
that your background image is in and click on the file. 6. Click "Open".
7. You are now returned to the first popup window. "Click ok". Your
background image is now on your page.
Inserting
a header banner.
Most
webpages open with some kind of banner at the top of the page. At the top I have
my banner. You may choose to have an image that says Welcome or something else,
but the steps are the same in all situations. 1.
Click inside the page where you want your image to appear. For this tutorial click
up ear the top of the page. 2. You can position the image either "left",
"center" or "right", by clicking on the 3 boxes in the
2nd row of toolbars, to the right of the artists palette. (See toolbar image
below. This image is "left".)
1. From the top toolbar, select "insert". 2. From
the dropdown menu select "image". 3. From the popup window, check
"file" and click "browse". 4. Find the folder that your
background image is in and click on the file. 5. Click, "open" and
click "ok". Image is now on page. You
now can insert a background and an image. Well done. *smiles*
Inserting
Text.
(Hint.
The second row of the toolbar contains all the text functions.) 
1.
Position your cursor where you want your text to appear and type anything you
like. 2. You can have your text left, center or right by following the same
steps as for image above. 3. Change your text style by choosing from the drop
down menu where it says "Times New Roman". 4. You can increase the
size of the text by highlighting a selection of text and clicking the capital
"A" 5. Decrease the size of the text as above but clicing the small
"A". 6. Highlight your text and make it bold (click "B")
make it ITALICS (click "I") or underline ("click
"U"). 7. To color your text, highlight the selected text, click
on the color palette, select color, click ok. 8. To delete text, highlight
a selection and hit the delete button on your keyboard. 9. Sorry, There is
no spell checker. :-( With
the above steps you can make a basic webpage. Let us now save this page.
Saving
Pages.
1.
Make a new folder on your hard drive to save your files. (To
make a new folder click "Start", (left bottom of screen) "Programs",
"Accessories", "Windows Explorer". Click "File",
(top left of screen) "New", "Folder", at the bottom of your
files you will now notice "new folder" highlighted. Hit your
delete key and type in a name of your choice. This is where you will save
your pages. (Close windows explorer.) 2. Select "file" in
Frontpage. (Top left of screen) 3. Select "save as" 4. Name
your page (page title) and click "as file".  5. Select your new folder at
"save in". 6. Type in your file "name.html" (Note; You
are saving a html document that can be viewed in a browser.) 7. press
"save"  All
done. You have now completed Frontpage tutorial #1 Not too hard is it. *smiles*
