DRAWING A STRAIGHT LINE

This psp tutorial will show you the basics of drawing a straight line using PSP. You will also be shown how to set "caps", which is the end of the line, and other basic settings that you need to know when designing graphics with Jasc Paint Shop Pro.

Step 1

Open a new image
300 x 50
White Background
16 Million Colors


Step 2

Set your Color Pallette Foreground color to Black.
(Or whatever color line you require.)

Step 3

Click on the Draw Tool
Click on Tool Options
Set the options as below:

Type = Single Line
Width = 4
Line Style = Solid
Antialias = Checked
Create as Vector = Not Checked
Close Path = Not Checked

Step 4

Position cursor on image and while holding the keyboards shift key down, press and hold left mouse button down and drag mouse across image.

From this tutorial you can see that you can set the width and color of the line to whatever you like.

There are also pre-set line styles that you can access by clicking on the "drop down" list.



Hints and Tips.

Making a 3D style straight line across an object is simply drawing a white then black line next to each other.

Using the Magnifying Tool to "zoom" in on your work, makes placement easier.

Drawing a line with "Rounded Caps" can make a tube type image. This is great for making 3D buttons, etc.

If your required line style is not in the pre-set list, click on Line Style, "CUSTOM" to make your own style.

"Save As New" will add the style to the Pre-Set drop down list.
