Easily find all broken links in your website

What is the easiest way to find all the broken links in your website?

Broken links found within your website not only frustrates your visitors, it also runs the risk of having it penalized or removed completely from Google Search engine. This is seen clearly by reading Google's Webmaster Guidelines.

The slow way to check for broken links is to load each page in your browser and manually click each link to see if it opens. Of course this takes a lot of time, making it a very inefficient process. An easier way, is to use free software that can check all your website pages and links within a few minutes.

Xenu's Link Sleuth is a free software download that helps webmasters detect all the broken links within their website, displaying the results in a report style format, so you can fix the errors. If you don't have time to fix the errors instantly, simply have the report emailed to you for later use.

The video below demonstrates how easy it is to use Xenu's Link Sleuth.

Another way to test for broken links is to use an online checker like Dead Links. This method is useful for seeing if you have any to begin with, however unlike Xenu's Link Sleuth, the report shown at the end doesn't show you on what pages the bad links are seen on.
