Difference between WSIWYG, text HTML editors

Difference between WSIWYG and text webpage editors - Dreamweaver, GoLive, NVU and JE Editor

The video below is useful for beginners to webpage design as it demonstrates the difference between WSIWYG (what you see is what you get) and text editors for creating websites. You can find a link to each of the editors mentioned in the demonstration further down this post. It is recommended you download a few different editors, both WSIWYG and text, to see what one suits your particular needs.

WSIWYG Editors:

Dreamweaver - Download trial version.

GoLive - Download trial version.

NVU - Free Mozilla Editor, full version.

JE Editor - some experience in Java and programming is recommended for this editor. However, it is free.

Note: You can also find some other Free HTML Editors on an earlier post that was not mentioned in the video. As you can see, some website developers like the flexibility of text editors, while others enjoy the ease of WSIWYG. For beginners, I suggest using one that has both WSIWYG and text (raw code) options. This way as you become more advanced you don't need to change editors and you'll always have the option to edit your website in either graphical design or a textual code mode.
