Photoshop Video Tutorial - How to remove an image background from a photo.
Removing a background from an image isn't as hard as you might think with Photoshop . This video tutorial shows you a beginners (easy) method, as well as one that requires a bit more skill. The advanced way shows you how utilises a filter to extract the main part of the photo from the background.
As demonstrated, the easy way of removing an image background is to use Photoshop eraser tool. Holding down this eraser tool you'll see different types of erasers. One of these is a background eraser tool.
Too see how to use this tool is used to remove a background, click the arrow on the video to start the tutorial. Note: A few people have said they needed to click the arrow twice.

Very nice tutorial! I'll be sharing this one! I like that you thought to mention about the extract tool bringing up a new interface or that you were returning the image to it's original state. Those are good cues for the novice...not mentioning that can throw them so easily.

Great tutorial! I did everything you said, and my picture turned out fantastic; however, I'm having trouble during the save. I'm trying to save my image with absolutely no background. Whenever I do that though, photoshop adds a white background to the picture.
The problem might be because I'm saving the image as a jpeg, but I'm not sure. Please help!

Yes that would be the reason. If you save an image as a jpg with no background, Photoshop will automatically put a white background in the image to fill the gap.
