How to make extra money
Surfing around the Internet I often come across personal homepages or blogs that have been put up purely for enjoyment or for a side hobbie. What the owners don't realise, is that they also have huge potential to make them some extra money. And everyone can do with a little extra cash right?
So how do you go about making extra money?
A good place to start is PayDotCom. It's free to join and once you have an account you can promote other people's products on your website and get paid a commission for each sale. To see what types of products you can promote go to PayDotCom and click on the left side where it says 'Shopping'. From there you can view all the product categories such as home and family, fun and entertainment etc. Click on one of those sub categories and then you will see a full list of products. To view how much you would be paid if you could sell one of the products, click underneath where it says 'Promote'.
Listed below are a few tips to help you make extra money promoting other people's products on your homepage or blog.
1. Try and choose a product that suits your content. For example, if your homepage or blog is about gardening then choose products under the category called garden. If your website is about your pet, then choose products under the pet category etc. In other words keep to the same theme. You won't make much extra money promoting a crocheting guide for example, if your homepage is about cooking and recipes.
2. Don't choose the first product you see. Take your time to look through them all and decide which one you would buy yourself. In otherwords, do your research. Often two products can be very similar, yet one will offer more commission per sale. You also need to decide whether you want to promote a low cost product with the possibility of more sales overall, or one that is more expensive giving you extra money in commissions per sale.
3. Only choose 2 or 3 products maximum to begin with. You don't want your homepage or blog to look like a side show alley desperate for takers.
4. Text links work better than banners and graphics. Working the promotion into your normal content works better than having it stand out on its own.
Before I finish this post it's probably also important to let you know how you get paid for any extra money you make. For most commissions you will be paid into your Paypal account (if your have one) within 30 days of the sale being made. If you don't have a Paypal account you will be sent a check payment. Too easy!
