Spam
Filters Anyone who
has a website with their email address listed is a target for spammers.
Spam is when a person or company floods the internet with the same email
message, forcing the advertisement onto each receiver. Most spam is commercial
advertising, however many recent ones also include viruses. These ones
often include a program that allows the message to be sent to every person
in the recipients contact list as well. How does
this effect your website? Many spammers use programs that allow them to
search entire websites and their outgoing links for email addresses. A
recent trend has seen website designers place their email addresses within
a graphic instead of an actual text link to help stop spam. Fortunately
there are also many good spam filters available to help you limit unwanted
emails. Anyone who has an email address should also have a spam filter.
If you have browser based email, it is important to check with your web
host that your spam filters are turned on. For those that use pop email,
there are now many spam filters that work with outlook express or any
other email program you choose to use.
